From paddock to bottle, we do the lot. We nurture our tea trees in the paddock for approximately twelve months, watering and feeding them. When they are around two meters tall we cut the trees, one row at a time with an adapted corn silage machine.
This machine cuts the branches into small billets and throws them into a bin we pull behind the tractor. Once the bin is full it is driven back to the shed where it is steam distilled.
In about one hour, our 100% pure Australian Teatree Oil begins to travel from the leaves of the cut tree into a stainless steel holding tank. Once the oil has stopped flowing, the leaves and branches left in the bin are emptied and sold as tree mulch.
The oil is then hand bottled, ready for our customers to enjoy.
Zero waste and regeneration:
This means we have zero waste, the oil is used by our lovely customers, and the mulch is used in gardens to feed the soil microbes and suppress weeds.
We are also slowly integrating and trialling regenerative farming methods to ensure our time as caretakers of our land is a positive one.
